Story #1 - Didn't get what I expected.
- "I was charged over $300 for four areas with pet spots, I agreed because I thought this was going to get rid of the stains too. Then told at the end of the cleaning that the stains are not going to come out."

Again if this client had a cleaner that guaranteed their work & if there was a little knowledge about the basics of carpet cleaning, this could of been avoided too.
Story #3 - Smelly Carpet.
- "The carpet looked better when they were done, but smelled bad afterward."
Just because it looks clean, doesn't mean it is. What consumers don't know about carpet cleaning is in many cases, you can't see ALL the dirt in your carpet. Part of our professional inspection process reveals soil that is invisible to the untrained eye.
Story #4 - Soaked.
- "I was pretty upset because the carpets took three days to dry."
I can sum this up in three words. NO MOISTURE CONTROL.
There are many more scenarios like this that could happen.
The good news is all of these could have been avoided. Here are three basic guidelines to follow.
- If they do not guarantee their work, do not let them clean your carpet. The last thing you want is to pay a good amount of money for a shoddy work. Why hire anybody if they are not willing to back up their work.
- Insist on an estimate. If they are not willing to take the time to do this for you, it sounds like they're more interested in filling their schedule book than meeting your needs. A trained eye will see the unseen. sometimes when price is set over the phone, there may be things that the carpet cleaner wasn't aware of, then ask for more money. One client told me she was charged a total of $500 to apply deodorizer. Then it didn't even work. Getting an estimate ensures that you will know exactly how much it will cost with no $500 surprises.
- Know how long is the cleaning process going to take? Your washing machine for your clothes has different wash settings right? Well, which cycle cleans better, the deep cycle that takes a long time or the quick cycle? It's the same with carpet cleaning.
Heavily soiled carpets should take about an hour to clean 200 to 300 square feet. Some companies clean 500 to 600 square feet per hour as a standard for every carpet.
